Firefighter Stephen Kotlarchyk is a 17 year veteran of the New York City Fire Department. Appointed to the FDNY March 25, 2007 and assigned to Engine 81 upon completion of the fire academy, he was assigned to Hazardous Materials Company 1 in 2017. Before he began his career with the FDNY, he served as an Airport Rescue Firefighter at the Trenton Mercer Airport in New Jersey from 2003 until 2007. He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 2001 until 2013 as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Specialist, deploying to Iraq in 2004-2005 and again 2009-2010.
