Hazmat/CBRN Trends and Emerging Threats

This presentation will highlight threats (ranging from domestic terrorism to technological hazards) and solutions (covering the realm of operational response from pre-planning through detection, protection, decontamination, and destruction) that response teams should watch in 2024.

Learning Objectives:

  • The student shall identify emerging threats in a HazMat/CBRN context including trends in domestic terrorism, novel psychoactive substances, chemical suicides, power sources, alternative fuels, aging infrastructure, and more.
  • The student shall identify the ways in which protection and decontamination must evolve to meet the ongoing threats.
  • The student shall understand the application of new detection technologies in the evolving HazMat/CBRN space.
