Tracie Young-Brungard has 40 years of experience in emergency services serving in multiple areas of Fire, EMS, Rescue, and Hazmat. She is
currently the Administrator of the Recruitment and Retention program for the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
Previously she managed the Pennsylvania Fire Service Professional Qualifications Certification program at the State Fire Academy.
She holds a Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences and Pennsylvania College of Technology and currently completing her Master in Public
Administration from American Military University. Tracie also graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, Pennsylvania
Preparedness Leadership Institute programs. In 2016 she was selected as one of the thirty Commonwealth employees to be a participant in the
Governor’s Emerging Leadership program. She is currently working on her Master Degree in Public Administration.
In her career she has served in multiple positions from volunteer firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain and most recently completed almost a ten-year
tenure as Chief responsible for EMS division of her fire department. She was a paid Paramedic for a few different Services.
Tracie also serves on a few of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Technical and Professional Qualifications committees. In 2016 she
was selected by NFPA to participate in a Research Foundation project focusing on the Key Performance Capabilities and Competencies for High
Hazard Incident Commanders and develop of a competency framework.
In the past she has served on the ProBoard Committee on Accreditation (COA), the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC)
Certificate Assembly Board of Governors and various committees within these organizations.
Tracie holds numerous National (ProBoard and IFSAC) professional certifications and has been an Emergency Medical Service (EMS) instructor
for 24 years and Fire and rescue instructor for 19 years.
She has worked to develop online learning for fire and EMS and blended training programs for Hazmat Incident Commander and HazMat Incident
Safety officer and national certification testing process for both HMIC and HISO
In her free time, Tracie enjoys spending time with her family camping, swimming, walking, kayaking, and completing projects around their home.
Tracie also continues her family tradition of volunteering within the community as a member of the volunteer fire and EMS services.
