Russ Kane MSc. CFO CWMS is a Fire Chief in Northeast Colorado with the Galeton Fire Protection District. Chief Kane has 4 decades of progressive of Fire, Haz Mat and Emergency Services leadership in the public and the private sectors at the local, county, regional, and state jurisdictional levels. Specifically, Chief Kane has been involved as a responder and Incident Management Team Member on Type 3-1 incidents in the Rail, Power, Oil & Gas, Chemical Industries, Special Events, and NYC 9-11 Attacks, as well as western Wildland Fire mobilizations and campaigns. Growing up in the NJ Fire & Emergency Services during the initial enactment of major environmental, health, and safety regulations in response to projects and incidents like this case study has allowed him to develop perspectives as both a responder and member of the regulated community alike. Chief Kane had also developed and run one of the largest industrial technical rescue standby services in the U.S. with clients in Public Utility, Railroad (Tunnel Rescue), Power Generation, Refining & Specialty Chem industries as well as the CA Division of Water Resources' (Hydro Electric Dams) the first primary contractor for confined space rescue standby in 2008 ($15MM). In his present role as a rural Fire Chief in the fourth largest oil and gas field in the U.S and member of the Colorado Preparedness & Response Network manages potential jurisdictional conflicts through relationship management with producers and its agricultural community.
