John Makin serves as a Fire Protection Specialist for the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and is currently assigned to the Special Operations, Hazardous Materials Branch. John has been active in the fire service since 1997, serving as a volunteer for much of that time, as well as almost 10 years as a career firefighter.
He has also been a member of his local volunteer hazmat team for the past 15 years. John has a passion for community outreach and education, providing essential firematic, technical rescue and hazardous materials training to first responders and industry specialists
