Jamie L. Potter (she/her/hers)

Battalion Chief Jamie Potter is a 20-year veteran of the City of Richmond Fire Department in Virginia. She has served on the Hazardous Materials Team for over half of her career. Jamie became a Hazardous Materials Specialist while assigned to the team while she was a firefighter. Once promoted, she went to Rescue 3 which became Truck 22 where she served as the officer overseeing Hazmat as her secondary function. As a Battalion Chief, she reports to the Special Operations Chief all info related to the team. She has managed incidents from fuel leaks to acetic acid spills. She was instrumental in getting the Joint Hazard Assessment Team (JHAT) team concept up and running for her jurisdiction in 2015. Jamie constantly seeks out opportunities to better the team and promote outside-the-box thinking when responding to emergencies. Jamie enjoys instructing locally on related topics.
