Rick Edinger, EFO, has served in public safety for 50 years as both a volunteer and career firefighter, medic, and hazmat responder. Following his retirement as Deputy Chief from a large, all-hazards emergency response organization in central Virginia, Chief Edinger (ret.) remains active in hazmat response and serves as the Chairman of the NFPA Technical Committee for Hazardous Materials Response. During his career Chief Edinger has worked as a hazardous materials technician, serving for 25 years as a member of the Chesterfield Fire & EMS Hazardous Incident Response Team. In addition to his hands-on experience, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in fire science technology from Columbia Southern University and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.
