Captain Meriden (CT) Fire Department Thomaston, Connecticut, United States
This is an instructor development Scenario-based Hazmat Training presentation. This program will “rehab” the fire service instructor on fundamental instructional concepts. Concepts needed in developing an interactive, fun, mission-specific, and repeatedly deliverable training program. This program is designed for all experience and skill levels. In this program, we will review and discuss Bloom’s Taxonomy, its use in developing proper learning objectives, and how the importance of proper learning objectives leads to proper lesson plan development and successful training programs and, thus, successful learning. The student will learn the proper application of these learning outcomes within Bloom’s cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. The student will then develop their learning outcomes and, through practical applications, develop their scenario-based training. This program is necessary for those seeking the vision, ideas, and tools to develop a continuously adaptive training program. This training program will maintain the students’ enthusiasm and develop their skills.
