Organic Chemistry for Hazardous Materials Responders

This class will present and discuss the various physical and chemical properties that determine the hazard classification and dangers associated with hazardous materials. Using actual case scenarios, the hazards associated with these chemicals will be presented. Participants will learn what makes a substance a hazardous chemical and what dangers are associated with different types of organic chemicals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to determine the physical and chemical hazardous associated with the different types of organic chemicals.
  • Learn about the different classes of organic chemicals and what dangers they may present.
  • Learn what is in the name of the organic chemical from its functional group name.
