Given the risks of HM emergency response operations, the overwhelming majority of responder injuries and deaths at HM incidents involve first responders. The ability of the Incident Commander to critically analyze the problem and effectively apply a risk-based response methodology provides the foundation for a safe response. This workshop will look at our experiences in managing hazmat incidents that may be large, complex and in some cases dysfunctional, and provide Incident Commanders and HazMat Officers with tools for their responder toolbox.
