Fire Chief New Canaan Fire Department Norwalk, Connecticut, United States
Continuing to build on our successful Scenario-based Hazmat Training presentations. This program will “rehab” the fire service instructor on fundamental instructional concepts. Concepts needed in developing an interactive, fun, mission-specific, and repeatedly deliverable training program. This program is designed for all experience and skill levels. In this program, we will review and discuss Bloom’s Taxonomy, its use in developing proper learning objectives, and how the importance of proper learning objectives leads to proper lesson plan development and successful training programs and, thus, successful learning. The student will learn the proper application of these learning outcomes within Bloom’s cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. The student will then develop their learning outcomes and, through practical applications, develop their scenario-based training. This program is necessary for those seeking the vision, ideas, and tools to develop a continuously adaptive training program. This training program will maintain the students’ enthusiasm and develop their skills.
Learning Objectives:
Students will create learning objectives for specific skills and a pre-determined audience.
Students will select the appropriate learning domain to accomplish the objective.
Students will develop a training scenario for their objective and learning domain.
